A Roam Among Archive: Bergen is another attempt, in the series of short and feature-length films that are entirely constructed from period still photographs. A forensic yet poetic examination that tends to reveal the characteristics of a municipality by exploring the social and political stories of that land through archival sound and photographs.
For the past decade "Archive" has become a buzzing word for humanities and social studies. The popularity of the concept is the result of several changes in the 20th century, mainly the digital revolution and computer technologies, making anyone capable of reconstructing and re-categorizing the material.
A Roam Among Archive: Bergen is a re-interpenetration of the material through an artistic lens. The film was created by revisiting these locations, attempting to capture the audio of the spaces, some of which date back nearly 100 years. In this sense, the spectators can fill the 100-year gap, first by their sense of imagination and second by comparing the recorded audio of the present day to the old photographs.
