An experimental animation about a personal memory of mine: "The time when I went blind."
Luckily, it was just a side effect of some medication and only lasted for one week. During that week of blindness, I realized I'm hypersensitive to sound as if my ears were trying to cover up for the absence of my eyes by receiving an extreme amount of information or sometimes misinformation. All I could do was obsessively analyze every sound I heard and try to make sense of it.
This film is inspired by that one week of blindness.
Blue Ears was a continuation of my approach to recycling the past embraced by film and animation. Although internally infused with humor, this is a painful memory. But my ears can play on forever turning every sound into their playground, the guessing game is endless. This short illness transformed a regular and recognizably structured mind into an open landscape and my ears became like horses that freely run around.
